My strengths when discussing educational technology has to come from the love for technology. Strengths include always wanted to up to date with the latest technology available to my teachers and myself. Technology is a vital part of the learning cycle now because students of today are so technology sound that a teacher must be able to keep everyone engaged throughout the complete lesson. If it's either showing a short video or a powerpoint presentations to get the lesson across.
The first assessment I took was the Technology Skills Assessment by our TEA. The assessment had many questions on what I am able to currently do with technology. I am able to complete about 70% of the assessments on that survey in the classroom. I have learned that students do very well with technology. Research on the internet through several Region I websites has become a huge part of my lesson plans and instructions the last couple of years.
The next assessment was "The Teacher" survey which determine your professional goals in the areas of technology. This survey is something used by a prinicpal in order to gain information from all teacher to understand how to improve technology throughout the campus or district. The survey is very long and I believe on of it's weaknesses is the length of it. Teachers don't want to complete this types of surveys during the school when they must worry about grades, attendance, call logs, lesson plans, and other duties needed to complete throughout the school year. I believe the strength of this survey is they way the questinos are asked. This survey would be great to use in the summer time for a training to improve technology on your campus.
